I'm using Excel Office 365 and using Power Query to do various types of transformations. My file size is less than 1MB but my queries are slow to load and eventually I get a "Out of Memory" exception error. I even exported all my queries to a new workbook just in case the previous file was corrupt, but the issue persists still.

I even changed the performance options of my laptop to "adjust for best performance" and only have Excel open but to no avail, I keep getting this error message. If I have a smaller number of queries to run it does work without any issues, but my file size is so small so it should be able to handle less than 1MB. Please advise.

Excel Facts

Convert text numbers to real numbers
Select a column containing text numbers. Press Alt+D E F to quickly convert text to numbers. Faster than "Convert to Number"
Here is a power tip that will help anyone else in the struggle: Open Excel file > Data tab> Get Data > Query Options > Data Load > uncheck "Allow data preview to download in the background"

This made my queries load fast from 10 mins to 15 secs. The reason being is I have referenced queries which is a good practice in Power BI Desktop but not for Excel! Who would of known.....This is what caused my workbook to crash every time. Hope this is helpful.
