Open Excel for MAC (.cwk) with Microsoft Excel

I can't seem to find any way, but is there a way to open an Excel for MAC (.cwk) with Microsoft Excel?

I tried MS word and notepad but neither worked.

Is that a file format specific to Mac Excel?

The file came from somebody else, but he did say he had Excel for MAC so I'm saying yes?

To the best of my knowledge .cwk files are old Claris Works documents, so I think you might be better off trying to open it in Word using the Recover text from documents option.

I did try to open with word, but maybe I need to try this "Recover text from documents option".

Thanks Rory that worked...I guess the file was not in Excel for MAC

This particualr file I am opening is built from left-to-right (Name, Phone, Number, Address, etc.

When it opens everything comes out in one long straight row. Fills up about 21 pages of text and then a bunch of other info below such as...

<string>com.apple.printingmanager</string>
<key>com.apple.print.ticket.itemArray</key>
<array>

Would you have any further suggestions on how to get this into some type of table structure with a appropriate info lined up?

If the original sender can't do it, then I can see if any of my Mac Office versions will open it, if it's not confidential and you can email it?
