Whilst experimenting around with security measures I have inadvertently used the master System.mdw file (thought I was using a copy). Now whenever I attempt to open any DB (even sample DB's) I have to add a password etc

I can get into databases OK but want to revert back to standard installation.

1. If I reload access will that reinstall sytem.mdw?
2. Can I still access all databases on my PC without the "modified" system passwords?

NOte I am not bothered about losing the security but must be able to open databases as normal.

You live and learn and I am in your hands

Thanks

Excel Facts

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.

Can you find the original file, perhaps on another computer?

That is the standard file that is created when Access is installed.

If you can delete the current one and replace it with the original one.

You might also try just deleting the mdw. But I'm not sure how/if Access will recreate it.

Good Idea Norie, I can copy from another PC but wanted to make sure that I could open my DB that I am working on without any logon after I revert back.

Or will the DB I was working on at the time of the error always need a logon ?

I am probably in panic mode so ignore the rambling.....

I've done this before and it worked - can't quite remember the exact method I used but it worked.

Just try it and post back if any problems.

Finished of this morning, rebooted my PC but all DB's still use the logon.
I copied a virgin system mdw from my other PC onto this one after renaming the original system.mdw :x :x :x

Am I doing something wrong?

Norie,

An update, I created a complete new WID basing it on a copy of a spreadsheet and now I can access it without any logon's (until I want to of course). Thanks for your help.
