Today I opened up Excel after a windows update and all of a sudden I am unable to use the expand/collapse buttons on the columns of a Pivot Table connected to a Power BI dataset via analyze in Excel. Consider the following:
  1. The +/- buttons still work on the row fields.
  2. I now have to right click on the column and select Expand/Collapse > Expand Field, which is not very convenient for users.
  3. It is allowing me to double click a column field member, but the double click behavior defaults to drill down, not expand, when I am attempting to navigate a hierarchy.
  4. I am noticing a magnifying glass icon pop-up when I select a column field member, that when I expand details makes suggestions for other fields to explore or drill down on. I have not noticed this before. It is almost like Excel is forcing me to drill down by default, as opposed to expanding/collapsing the field.
  5. Regular pivot tables still allow me to expand columns using the +/- buttons, so it appears to be an issue with OLAP connected pivot table settings/behavior
I can't find any settings for this in pivot table options and google search didn't seem to come up with anything. This all worked fine yesterday, maybe this has something to do with the windows update I had to install this morning? Any help would be appreciated if someone has experienced this issue before. I have a presentation today on a solution I developed and now all of a sudden I can't use basic functionality of the pivot table!

When I hover over the circled icon, my mouse icon does not convert to a pointer icon... I get the default excel cross.

Workdays for a market open Mon, Wed, Friday?
Yes! Use "0101011" for the weekend argument in NETWORKDAYS.INTL or WORKDAY.INTL. The 7 digits start on Monday. 1 means it is a weekend.
I am noticed that the latest build of Excel installed was 2301 16026.20146, which was released on Jan 26, 2023. This build contains some updates to pivot tables, so I had a feeling that there are issues with the current build. I reverted back to a previous build 15928.20216 and this issue gets resolved. So it is definitely an issue with the most recent build! Here is the link to the release notes:
