How would you right a code that applies to a cell using the OFFSET FORMULA?

Here is a simple Offset code:
If the script finds Tom in column A of your sheet the word Jones will be entered in column D adjacent to Tom.

But with no details what your wanting to do this is the best I can do for you at the moment.
