I find this conversation kind of interesting.

When Excel 2007 was first introduced, I remember having these same type of discussions, and many people were complaining about the radical changes with 2007 (mostly centered around the "ribbon"). At that time, many power users defended it, talking about the advantages of 2007. I admit, it took some getting used to, but I like it now, for the most part (besides taking away Application.FileSearch and the ability to save to DBF).

Now, it seems that people are bashing 2007 in favor of 2010.
Was 2007 really that bad, or is it just that 2010 is so much better?
Specifically, what big changes/advantages to you get with 2010?

PowerPivot, Slicers, Sparklines, customisable ribbon (via the UI), macro recorder works (mostly) with shapes and charts, and there seem to be fewer bugs. For starters. :)

Heya Joe,

The best explanation I can give is that 2010 vs. 2007 is kinda' like Vista vs. Windows 7 - It's Vista fixed. ;)

Not a whole lot has changed for the end-user, but it's much more stable. I'm not real fond of the clunky File tab over the rather stylish Office button though, but that's just an aesthetic thing I 'spose.

And the introduction of Power Pivot is pretty cool. All in all the Excel team has their game together - the same can't be said for the &^$%#@ Ribbon though, but even Bill Gates got outvoted on that piece of crap.
