ODBC 32bit v Excel in 64bit

Hi There,

Seen a couple of questions similar to this, but not exactly.

My organisation has a 32 bit odbc connection that would be great to use the data from, and blanket 64 bit excel - so I have been unable to connect to this on Power Q..

More than one person would need to access the sheet, so installing 32 bit excel isn't practical - I can try and get a 64 bit driver for the odbc but it is unlikely to happen any time soon (our IT team is stretched a bit with everyone home working).

I was wondering if anyone knew if there is any intermediate way of connecting to the ODBC via script or something that would then allow me to pick up the data from there?

Sorry that's a little vague but I'm not the most technically inclined!

Thanks for your help,

How to show all formulas in Excel?
Press Ctrl+` to show all formulas. Press it again to toggle back to numbers. The grave accent is often under the tilde on US keyboards.

Just a thought... I really don't know if there will be a cure for 32 vs 64 incompatibility any time soon and what I will suggest would be completely out of scope of Excel but involves web development:
Perhaps creating a simple web service (API) on the company network and accessing the source through this API might be a solution in this case. Since it will be only READ access, it wouldn't require extensive web developement skills.

Thanks smozgur - that kind of supports what I had been slowly coming to think.

The API documentation for the system seems to be a little hit/miss but there is SOAP - it's not my comfort zone at all, but should be fun figuring it out in the new year!
