Hi, in cell F2, i have 15 formatted as '00015' based on text(e2,"00000"). I need to save as csv but lose leading zeros and it now says '15' in the csv. How to save as csv as '00015' a 5 digit text?

Excel Facts

What does custom number format of ;;; mean?
Three semi-colons will hide the value in the cell. Although most people use white font instead.
Worked for me. Try placing a ' before the data in the cell before saving. That should force it to be text.

I will clarify. If I use custom format and open the csv in a text editor, i see the leading zeros. but I need to open the csv in Excel or other databases and lose the leading zero.

Try this:
In Excel go to File -> Options -> Data -> Automatic Data Conversion and turn off "Remove leading zeros and convert to a number" -> OK

I am also using 365. The option is here: (I have that setting 'on' but you would have it 'off')
