I'm running Excel 2002 and just noticed that I ran out of columns at "IV". Is there any way to set the parameters of a spreadsheet to have MORE columns, or do I have to upgrade to a newer version?

Thanks in advance!

Excel Facts

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.

Excel 2002 will only allow 283 Columns (IV) Excel 2007 will allow 16384.

Excel 2007 has 16,384 columns. All other versions have 256 columns and that can not be changed.

You can't increase the number of columns.

If you upgrade to Excel 2007 you will have 16,384 columns and 1,048,576 rows.

I also suppose it's going to depend what type of info your going to store and how it will be used.

This article discussed easter eggs hidden in old versions of Excel and suggests that if you save as a webpage you can increase the number of cells you have, this example refers to WC2000 which is WAY beyond column IV.

I'm not suggesting this will allow you the same interactivity or use as a bona fide spread sheet but if it is a database you are storing then you could connect to it via the connection wizard.

I shall standby for a swift correction. :)
