Newby needs help

I am new to excel and understand some of the basics.
At the top of each column are names ie "Month" "Name" etc
What I want to do after the data is entered is to be able to sort each column by clicking on that "Month" etc
What do I need to do?

And.....
am I able to do this on a web page so that someone can sort by whatever category they choose

Please re-direct me if this belongs somewhere else
hope it makes sense too!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Idea 1
Select all the cells that you need to sort i.e. the whole table.
Go to the Home tab.
Click "Sort & Filter".
Select Filter.

You should get filter arrows at the top of each column.
Select one to either filter or sort.

Idea 2
Select all the cells that you need to sort i.e. the whole table.
Go to the Home tab.
Click "Sort & Filter".
Select Custom Sort
Specify the column headings (or letters).
Click OK.

Idea 3
Use a "table".

Select a cell somewhere in your data.
Go to the Insert tab.
Choose Table.

You should get a shaded table with filter arrows at the top of each column.
Select one to either filter or sort.
