Brand-new to this forum, so my first question here.
If it makes any difference (it might not, I realize), I'm running Windows 11 on a machine that was originally Windows 10. I downloaded the update because it was free.
The columns I used

Context/background: I have a spreadsheet showing the names of different security cameras (of a LARGE building) in column 1, and whether the cameras are either INTERIOR or EXTERIOR in column 2.
That's the extent of this spreadsheet - the camera names are assigned a location of either of two possible categories.
So... column 1 (the names of the cameras, each in its own separate row) is filled out accurately, in the exact order I was told to list them.
Also... one by one, I've filled out the box in column 2, next to each camera name, whether the camera is considered INTERIOR or EXTERIOR.

My question: All I want the spreadsheet to show is two location groups, each easily visible as a "block of INTERIOR" or "block of EXTERIOR", with the correct camera name still next to it.
How do I do a simple alphabetical sorting operation of column 2 so that the INTERIOR/EXTERIOR entry will still have the correct camera name next to it?
Right now, I can do an A->Z sorting of column 2, but the contents of column 1 remain unsorted.

So how do I make column 1 go along for the ride when I sort column 2? There must be some way to associate the A1 with B1, A2 with B2, A3 with B3 and so forth. This is going to be an ongoing project, because my company plans to install more cameras, and rename other cameras. I just want to do ONE sorting operation and have ALL the camera names appear in the block of either INTERIOR or EXTERIOR.
Sorry for my excessively precise descriptions... I guess I was born this way.

Excel Facts

Formula for Yesterday
Name Manager, New Name. Yesterday =TODAY()-1. OK. Then, use =YESTERDAY in any cell. Tomorrow could be =TODAY()+1.
You can do it a couple of ways:

Make it a table:

or Sort&Filter:

That will keep the columns together for sorting.

Solution
I generally prefer tables to filter&sort - The tables get much easier to manage when you start doing other things on your spreadsheet.
