New line character

Is there a way to insert a new line character (carriage return) into a cell? I have some data that I want to line up, without putting one item per row. I'm hoping that there is an ASCII character or some other that I can put into the line to force it to break.

Welcome to the Board!

When you are editing a cell and typing in it, if you press alt+enter it puts in a break.

A remark: the new line character in a cell is not the carriage return (asc 13), it's the line feed (asc 10).
