Have a look at the MrExcel Podcasts in which Bill has featured Excel 2010. Go to the following link: http://www.mrexcel.com/podcast/learnexcelpodcast.html
and enter "Excel 2010" in the search box on the right, not far from the top of the page.
It seems that there are quite a number of improvements.
Check out the "recent posts" list on the right side of the blog. There's new algorithms for many XL formulas, improvements for high-powered cluster computing, more features for integration into sharepoint services (I believe), chart code can now be fully recorded again with the macro recorder (almost), xml enhancements, table and pivot table enhancements, a 64 bit version shipping (see notes here on activeX etc in the 64 bit version), - hopfully you're getting the idea. Lots of new stuff. I'm going to jump right on board when it comes out. True - it doesn't "seem" very different. But under the hood I think its a valuable new version.
