This stopped happening after I deleted the pivot, saved and tried again.
I am continuing an experiment with a lot of unique values which went on the rows no problem.
480k unique sys ids. Then I just want to drop in a date field and get this error that "Could not add the field "Date" to the pivot table. Please check the field exists and is calculated, and try refreshing the pivot table."
I've never seen this before. Of course, now I can't even save the workbook without hitting the 1gb memory limit and I'm not even there, at 860mb.
Terrible limitation. But anyway, if anyone has an idea about the first error, I'd appreciate it.
