Need help with Vlookup and duplicates

Hi,

I have a spreadsheet where I am referencing some data from another spreadsheet. There are occasionally some duplicate values and it automatically grabs the first one. I would rather it not populate any data (a note saying it's a duplicate would be ideal) so that I can manually investigate what I have. I thought about doing some conditional formatting, but I would rather just have something in my vlookup formula, if that is possible.

Thanks!

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
Take a look at the countif function. Do something like =IF(COUNTIF(Range,"Search_Term")>1,"DUPLICATE",VLOOKUP("SEARCH_TERM",Range,X,0))
