need help with linked workbooks

I have one master workbook linked to many other workbooks. As the master workbook is updated I want all linked workbooks to update the same including if I add/delete rows. I added the following code to the master workbook worksheet and it works well in adding rows but deleting rows produces #ref error on the linked worksheets. I have two questions:

1) how do I enable the deleting of rows to occur on the worksheets instead of #ref
2) how can I add say, 20 workbooks (all with the same sheet names) all together in this code ie Const wb2Name As String = "Workbook2 and Workbook3 and Workbook4" 'change.... and so on to include all my linked workbooks?

If you change your formulas in the master to reflect an OFFSET formula, then you'll not get the error any longer.
=OFFSET([Book3]Sheet1!$A$1,ROW(A2)-1,0)
This brings in a value offset from Cell A1 on Book3, sheet1 by the row number that the formula is in. It assumes that the row of data you want to pull is the same across the board for all supporting workbooks.

The best thing to do is to either use a VLOOKUP (or MATCH and INDEX) in your master combined with dynamic ranges on your supporting workbooks. This works if you data set has unique index values. Then you don't have to rely on which row the data is being pulled

I don't know how you set up your master and I don't know what your data looks like so it would be hard to offer a formula.

To be honest I don't know anything about this. I Googled the code...

My master workbook has 5 worksheets. Produce, grocery, frozen, dairy/deli & hbc. It's for my job as a retail rep. Each sheet in this master has 5 columns, decription of products, the upc, order codes, packout size & price.

I have 20 stores so I need an identical workbook of the master to represent each store. I'd like to name the store workbooks by their store numbers ie:04, 14, 39 etc. As products get discontinued from the store I need to be able to delete thone products from the master and have that deletion occur in all workbooks and as new products come in I need to add them to all workbooks.

I use the 20 linked workbooks to keep track of which stores carry which products by color coding the rows (green it's in, red it's not carried in that store, yellow there's an issue etc). So I definitely don't want changes in the 20 linked books to effect the master. Just changes in the master to be reflected to the linked 20.

Does this explain enough for you to be able to help me with a solution?

Please don't take this the wrong way. I feel like you need a lot more than just a simple answer. Think of this as a learning site. I like helping people work on their projects, but I don't feel like writing an entire application. If you have time, please break down your needs into smaller questions so we can help you through the big picture. If you don't have time, maybe hiring a consultant to get you on the right track is what's needed. I speak for myself only.

Ok thank you. It's a shame tho cause this code works great except for deleting rows. I'll have to start a crash course I guess....sigh
