Need help with Conditional formatting. Thanks for helping :)

if in a cell any of the word or spelling in the word matches the word or spelling in A1 then i want the whole cell to be hilighted with RED...

for instance; if i write a word in a1 as "Add" and in b13 i have a word Addidas I want the whole cell to be hilighted....

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
I am not sure where i did wrong I selected the area from B1 to F30 then click on conditional formating > new rule > use formula..... > entered the formula...and then > ok

I wrote few things which might match case not exat match...but it did not work...I am not sure where i did wrong..or my explaination was incorrect...


Pls ...lenze if you're there...look in to it again...

When you enter a Conditional Format, into a range like yours B1:F30, you have to set the formula to look at the first cell in the range.

So for Lenze's formula to work in your case, change it as below.

=ISNUMBER(FIND($A$1,B1))
