I'm trying to copy and paste my spreadsheet to a word document, and I know it's possible to hide the ghosted grid in the background, but I can't find the option.

Help?

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type
As far as I'm aware this isn't possible.

When you paste from Excel to Word you create a table.

The ghosted grid just means the table has no borders, and they won't appear when printed.

A lot of my employer's records are kept electronically. I was fairly certain that there is a method to make the grid invisible, even on the Excel spreadsheet itself.

You can certainly remove the gridlines in Excel.

But what you have in Word is a table and as far as I'm aware those
ghosted gridlines are there to indicate that.

In Excel the option is Gridlines on the View tab under Tools>Options.

But even when you remove the grd from Excel and copy to Word you still get the ghosted lines.

You could us Table>Convert>Table to Text... but then you might lose some formatting.

Perhaps that's the option you are thinking of?

In Word you can hide the "ghosted" lines (where there is no border formatting applied) by seleting "Hide Gridlines" from the Table menu.
