Good Morning,

I'm willing to do the research work on what I want to achieve but am not sure how to phrase the search terms (after half an hour of useless results).

I want to have a workbook that can be opened by only one person at a time, on a network drive.

I've tried search terms:

"excel vba one person at a time"
"excel vba limit to one person"
excel vba limit users"

nothing seems to be coming close to anything relevant. Can anyone who has done this help with better search terms or point me to a site I can specifically search for this topic? No results here on mrexcel.com that were germain.

Thank you for your time,
Jim

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
That is the way Excel should work by default. Anyone who subsequently opens the file will be told they can only open it read-only and choose whether or not to be notified when it is available for editing.
