Need a formula to address the following:
If cell E10 on a worksheet identified as “CandidateSelection” = “C” and cell G6 on that same worksheet is not blank, post thevalue “Y” to the recipient cell….if these conditions are not met, the recipientcell is to remain blank.

Help is appreciated

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
does this work?

In the recipient cell enter: =if(and(E10="C", G6<>""),"Y","")

Hello...Yesterday in response to a request for a conditional formula you provided the following: =if(and(E10="C", G6<>""),"Y","") Iresponded with a thank you indicating that the formula you provided worked..... well it appears I was mistaken and would appreciate if you would re-examine the formula as it relates to my needs and see if you can determine what the problem is.

I repeat the original request here: If cell E10 on a worksheet identified as “Candidate Selection” = “C” and cell G6 on that same worksheet is not blank, post the value “Y” to the recipient cell….if these conditions are not met, the recipient cell is to remain blank.

Although I'm not certain, I think the problem may be that the recipient cell is located on one worksheet while the conditional data is located on another worksheet identified as "Candidate Selection".

Once again, your help will certainly be appreciated.

Apologies, now that I've reread your original post the formula should be: =if(and('Candidate Selection'!E10="C", 'Candidate Selection'!G6<>""),"Y","")

No need for apologies. I truly appreciate your response. The adjusted version works perfectly. Thanks agsain.

Hi Dave, no problems. For info, this is a relatively straightforward problem in excel (though I accept that's easy to say when you know how!). The following steps would have created this formula and the technique can be used almost everywhere.

1. in the 'recipient cell' start typing (don't press Enter until indicated below): =if(and(
2. click on cell E10 on the 'Candidate Selection' sheet
3. type: ="C",
4. click on cell G6 on the 'Candidate Selection' sheet
5. type: <>""),"Y","")
6. Press ENTER

You should then have created the formula.

Hope that helps.
