I have a column who's entries are dates of transactions. There are multiple transactions for each day. I want to make a bar chart that has the dates on the x axis and the number of transactions on that date on the y axis. Also can I switch this to months on the x axis and the number of transactions per month on the y axis? I figured I'd give the website a try, instead of fiddling around trying to figure this out. thanks. I don't have a chart wizard on this machine.

Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
Should be an easy task for Pivot Charts to handle.

Select the range.
Select Pivot Table and Pivot Chart Report from the Data menu.
Go through the dialogues and choose where you want the report to go (the chart will go on its own tab).
Drag and Drop the Date item onto where is says "Drop Category Fields here"
Drag and Drop the Transaction Item onto where it says "Drop Series Fields here"
Drag and Drop the Date item again onto where it says "Drop Data Items Here"
