Have just recently upgraded from 2010 to 2013. I notice with 2 books open that when I attempt to click within the foreground workbook that my cursor lands on a background workbook. Repeatedly. I generally Alt-tab between to navigate. The only way to make contact with the correct book is to minimize the one that gets in the way.

hard to describe better than this... I can see it but I cant touch it.

Do you hate GETPIVOTDATA?
Prevent GETPIVOTDATA. Select inside a PivotTable. In the Analyze tab of the ribbon, open the dropown next to Options and turn it off
The interferrence was caused by an Excel Add-in for Hyperion. Luckily I no longer need Hyperion for my job, so I disabled the add-in and the problem is resolved.
