Do you use range names, but are sometimes forced to use Excel on-line? I have good news for you! As of today, you can install my free Name Manager add-in and use it in Excel on-line to create, edit and manage range names!
Here is the add-in in the Microsoft AppSource: https://appsource.microsoft.com/en/product/office/WA200006385?tab=Overview

Of course this add-in also works in desktop Excel and Mac Excel, provided you are on 365.

Excel Facts

Can a formula spear through sheets?
Use =SUM(January:December!E7) to sum E7 on all of the sheets from January through December
I don't manage On-Line workbooks. This is not as useful as the built-in Name Manager in the desktop version.

So, I went remove the Name manager from the ribbon under Formulas. What is strange is that the downloaded file is a .xlsx file. NO VBA. I thought it was an add-in, nope. How did this workbook imbed itself onto the ribbon available to any workbook even when the file is not open? I did remove the item from the ribbon.

The Name manager you installed isn't an Excel workbook nor a VBA add-in, it is a Javascript web application hosted on my website and displayed in an Excel taskpane. This is how "modern" Office add-ins work nowadays.

If you need more functionality (both than the one above and the native Excel one!), consider downloading and installing my old-school, golden oldie, VBA Name Manager add-in (which has over 250K downloads) from here: Free Name Manager Excel add-in
