My head is spinning xml and xcelcius

I am new to Xcelcius and XML. I have Xcelcius 2008 and Excel 2003.
What I am trying to do is load a spread sheet into Xcelcius an create a link with XML. I also have the XMTools add on from excel loaded.

Please correct me if I am wrong I have just been spinning trying to figure out what I am doing wrong.

Step 1
I have created a spread sheet with data formula s and headings

Step 2
I use xmltools and convert a range to an XML list. This changes all the cells to drop down list bounded by a blue border

Step 3
I select data export from data>XML>export

Step 4
Close without saving spread sheet

Step 5
Open new sheet

Step 6
Data>xml>xmlsource
xmlmaps>xmlsource then I pick the file test.xml
now I drag this to the cell I want.

Step 7
I save this as my original file and update source data

What happens are two things, when I import the numbers turn to text and I loose all my formulas

Step 8
I bring this into xcelcius
setup the data connections as xmlmaps

Step 9
when the user in excel saves the spread sheet it must be saved as *.xml data This updates the sheet




So how do I keep my formula s and not have all the data change to text
going crazy
