My cell cursor seems to be Substantially Over Reactive?

In an Excel 2019 private License - My cell cursor seems to be substantially overreactive to not allowing me to systematically copy, insert or delete large (more than slight anyway) amounts of data. I can close all but the particular spreadsheet and most all other programs and it still acts very 'sticky' to not allowing me to perform this / these simple operations. My spreadsheets typically have active links to other spreadsheets - but given they are not open at the time - it doesn't make complete sense to me that would be hogging my RAM and causing problems. I recently bought, installed and ran a system mechanic from iolo in an attempt to eliminate a problem at a potentially higher level.

I have all current updates to my O/S, and MS Office that I know of. I ordered a couple books to acquire more knowledge and productivity. Thing is - I'm looking to debug a setting vs learn new functionality with a book...

First post here. All help appreciated; not trying to waste anyone's time. Thank You!

Excel Facts

What is the shortcut key for Format Selection?
Ctrl+1 (the number one) will open the Format dialog for whatever is selected.

What about not this sheet but some other sheet in a different workbook? Maybe your issue is with how vba code is affecting the cursor on said sheet.

Thanks Micron! The spreadsheets I am using do not have macro's in them that are consuming resources.

What is VBA in Excel?

Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is a programming language used to automate tasks and enhance the functionality of Microsoft Office applications. You can use it with Excel, Word, Access, and other Office programs, althought it’s probably most widely used for creating custom macros in Excel, which we will look into.

Personally, the first time I used VBA was to automate a weekly report that used to take hours to compile manually. With just a few lines of code, I reduced the process to a single button click and saved a lot of hours. From then on, I know that
investing some time in mastering it would pay off enormously in terms of productivity.

I have also reduced the time it takes to do processes, the best being from about 1 hour to 10 minutes. Might have been shorter, but other apps were still involved. Not sure what your last post has to do with your issue though.

AKA 'macro' or 'macros' in Excel. Being more of an Access guy I tend to use the term 'procedure' or vba, since an Access macro is a different animal than an Excel macro and Access code (procedure) looks the same as an Excel macro. Dabbling in both just makes me wonder why M$ teams just couldn't get their acts together and be on the same page.
