I have a spreadsheet with peoples hours worked, formatted as [h]:mm:ss

Their rate of pay, formatted as 0.0

In order to multiply them together, with the result formatted as 0.0, I an getting random results, does anyone know where I am going wrong ?

Thanks
Paul

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
even the cell is formatted as time, excel still treat is as fraction of a day, if you convert it back to hours by x24 should give you the right answer
