Hey! Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast.
I'm Bill Jelen.
Basically, we start out with massive amount of data.
How we're gonna analyze as well, plus fire up a pivot table.
You can solve this problem.
Hey, alright! Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast.
I'm Bill Jelen.
Today, we have questions sent in by Peter, from France.
Peter wants to create this chart.
He created this chart in Power Point.
It's basically an x-y chart, but it has several different series.
Oh! This is so hard to do in Excel because what we're going to do is create an x-y chart from the first series, the red series first.
So, we go to insert and then scatter chart Create that series, and so there's series one.
And then we're going to go to select data, choose add and for the second series will specify where those values are.
And make sure to get rid of this value here and specify the second Y series, click [ ok ], repeat add.
Series 3 the Green series down here and then for the green Y's put those in make sure we get rid of that one.
Try again, there's the Greens.
Great!
Click [ OK ] and then we'll click add and keep doing that series X values are all the blue.
X values and then the series Y values.
Get rid of that are the blue Y values and then [ OK ] and then one last one [ Add ].
Series X values our violets down here and then the series Y values are violets here Now, back in Excel 2003, other chart-chart data, the second tab there had a similar dialog box to this.
Now, that we have all those in.
We're going to go through one at a time and select each series.
So, go to series one format selection go to marker options, choose built and choose the round and then kick it up to a nice big size, maybe 12 or so.
Once we have that this first series that's supposed to be red.
So, I'll choose a nice red fill and click [ close ] there we go.
Hey! Let's do it again, series 2 again format selection, marker options, built-in, choose the circle.
Go back to the nice big size and marker fill, on this one is supposed to be orange.
So, I'm choosing orange.
Now, hey! Check this out in Excel 2007, pretty cool.
We can keep the format data series box open and reach back here and choose series 3.
Marker options, built-in, choose the circle.
Choose a nice big size and marker fill this is supposed to be green.
Good! Reach back here series for marker options, built-in, round circle.
12 and this one's supposed to be blue.
With this blue here, and then finally the last series, series five.
Marker options, built-in, change it back to a circle, kick the size up.
This is all very tedious, isn't it?
Solid fill and this one is going to be violet, click [ close ].
Alright hey! There you go.
Hey! there you have it the five different series on it, x-y chart.
Now, tomorrow I'll show you completely different way to this, not sure is any better.
Maybe a little bit better.
I want to thank Peter for sending that question in.
We'll see you next time for another netcast from MrExcel.
Thanks for stopping by.
