Hi

New to the forum. With fairly basic excel skills. I am trying to make life easier by creating a template that can do the following.

A) in a sheet that has lots of items labelled numerically in the first column I.e. 1, 2, 3 ....
With a line in between each one for clarity...often I have to add new items which means I have to manually renumber from the top. Is there a way to do this automatically?

Obviously if there wasn't a row separating each one I could just drag down.

2) each number is linked to another sheet/tab which Is a backing sheet. Can this be automated to change automatically too? Sometimes I have to rename 50 items and backing sheets just because I entered a new row.

3) to make life easier I wanted to be able to generate quotes using a drop down. If I were to create the list then data validate is there a way that selecting from the list can pull the whole row of information into the sheet.

Hope this makes sense. Would really apprechiate the help.

Many thanks

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
If they're sequential numbers, I don't understand why you would be adding #s in the middle, but it's easy to create that pattern with a formula

Thanks I will try this. Basically I might need to add a new item between say #2 #3 because either makes most sense for it to be with that section of other items. So the new item becomes the new #3 but now everything needs moving down 1 number if that makes sense
