Newbie to PowerPivot. I have 3 tables that all have separate oDaa connections, decent size tables (25 or so columns and 20,000 or so lines).

Is it possible to have all tables in PP and keep connection so I can hit refresh and they all update?

If yes, can I create relationships in PP and refresh connections and don't have to recreate relationships?

Thank You Thank You Thank You for any help!!!!

Excel Facts

Control Word Wrap
Press Alt+Enter to move to a new row in a cell. Lets you control where the words wrap.
Yes and yes

Could you please walk me through this? Do need to delete previous connections I had for individual worksheets?

For some reason all the connections aren't saying they are connected...

So I go to PowerPivot-->Add Data to table-->......

Much thanks to walk me through this like a child :)

Are you in 2010 or 2013?

For the sake of getting you going in case I get tied up....

PowerPivot window and choose a data source and choose your tables, columns etc.

I'm still old school and (not using Power Query )and using From Other Sources > Microsoft SQL Server for example

Not sure why there is a save password checkbox in there because I have to reenter it at the first instance of refreshing.

When I hit Refresh All all of my tables refresh.

I typically drag and drop relationships in the Diagram View in the PP window.

Excel 2013.

My oData connections are just URL's from a website.

I'll try the "Others" (OLEDB/ODBC) data sources and see if it works putting links in.

One of results I need is finding the most recent completion date from a list of employee IDs and they are in the list multiple times, so can't use VLookup since returns first.... What do you suggest?

Thank You, GDRIII! You are making Monday morning much less stressful :)

I missed that part in my haste.

Interestingly enough this is on my next "Explore" list...

Let me know how you make out.

Once you get your data in, I'm sure we can help with the "most recent completion date" issue. Do you have any idea if you need a calculated column vs calculated field (measure) ? I guess -- how do you plan to USE that value?

I can't even get the oData connections to connect in PP currently. Says error, "Unauthorized". I have a username and password for these connections but it doesn't prompt me to enter them....Do I need to re-do the connections in regular Excel workbooks?

As far as the value "completion date" value, I want to create a list only showing each employee ID once and with most recent date....so a unique value/max date combination of 2 different columns.

I would use this value to cross reference with another list of employee IDs for matches.

Thank you,
Clinton
