Assume I have a large spreadsheet similar to the above.

Let's say that in cell B6, the user puts in partial text, so that we can find the full name of the person in the spreadsheet. After pressing ENTER in B6, other cells will populate with the returned matches. For example, if user presses "ji", the returned matches would populate as shown above.

I'm really new to this stuff, but I'm assuming I need to use Index and Match functions.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Excel Facts

Remove leading & trailing spaces
Save as CSV to remove all leading and trailing spaces. It is faster than using TRIM().
Would the correct approach be to generate the row numbers and column numbers for all the matches, and then use the Index and Match function to generate the results?

For starters, I've been able to generate the row numbers (for all instances of the partial text search) with the formula:
=small(if(isnumber(search($B$6,$A$1:$C$4)), row($A$1:$C$4)), row(1:1)) CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER

And then I copy and drag this formula down, to span multiple rows.

This seems to work ok for rows, but for columns, it doesn't work. Can someone provide a formula similar to the above for the COLUMNS? (recall that the partial text will appear in multiple columns, and sometimes more than once in the same column.

I'm just trying to find a really quick way to look someone up, and quickly see what their role is, and who they report to (or who reports to them). Thanks.
