Mulitple filters in one worksheet

Is it possible to filter multiple sets of data within the same worksheet? Everytime you try to filter a new set of data, it automatically removes the existing filter on a previous set. This could definitely come in handy when responding to audit requests.

It doesn't quite make sense to have filter for multiple sets of data on the same sheet because when you filter it hides rows not just cells within the filtering range.
