hello,
i'm creating a schedule in project.....and i have the following question: (ps. i'm very new at this)

how do i indicate the predecessor if i have a "process" C that can be started when either process A or process B is completed?

thank you :-)

Excel Facts

Convert text numbers to real numbers
Select a column containing text numbers. Press Alt+D E F to quickly convert text to numbers. Faster than "Convert to Number"
You can have multiple predecessors. That gives you AND -- both need to be complete before C can start. Not quite sure how to do OR.
I'm assuming that A and B are scheduled to finish around the same time and you want to kick off C when the first of those completes. Is that correct?

Yes. I'd like C to start as soon as 'either' A or B finish.

I had a bit of a play and can't find a hands-off solution. Also, nothing came up in a Google search. So, in the absence of any other comments I'd suggest:

Link Task C to both A and B
Place a note on C to indicate how it should be treated
As you track the project, one of the tasks may finish before the other. When that happens, break the link to the unfinished predecessor and the schedule will update.
