Hello All,

I am not sure if this can be done but, if it can this is the place to find the answer.

I would like to add a formula (for a variable) to my signature in MS Outlook.

In Excel, the formula would be:

= 45323 - TODAY() & " Days Until Go Live!"

where 45323 is the number for the date of an event. This will return the numbers of days from whatever today is until the specified date with the text after. We are in Office 365.

I will be leading an event taking place in the future and would like to add this auto-updating line to my signature so it is on every email I send or respond to.

Thanks for any help!

Excel Facts

Square and cube roots
The =SQRT(25) is a square root. For a cube root, use =125^(1/3). For a fourth root, use =625^(1/4).
Hi,

Interesting problem. Here's what I did. Create the macro below in a VBA module. Add the VBA macro to the Quick Access Toolbar. Click the Quick Access shortcut when you want to create a new email.

Option Explicit

Sub SetSignature()
Dim myOlApp As Outlook.Application
Dim MyItem As Outlook.MailItem
Dim OutMail As Object

Dim Signature As String

Set myOlApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
Set OutMail = myOlApp.CreateItem(0)

Signature = Format(45323 - Date, "###") & " Days Until We Go LIVE!"
OutMail.HTMLBody = signature

OutMail.Display
End Sub

Hope this helps.

Solution
Bill,

Thank you for your help and quick response.

The good news is: Your procedure works perfectly.
I have never used macros in anything other than Excel and Access. I will have to give some thought to using them in other applications.

The bad news is: We are required to use a specific format for our email signatures by corporate.
I will work on this and try to adapt what you wrote into the required format.

Thank you again for your help.
