I have XP.

I like to drag & drop.

It only makes a copy, when I left click do this.
I hate that.
I want it to Move, not Copy.

Help

Thanks!

Excel Facts

Why does 9 mean SUM in SUBTOTAL?
It is because Sum is the 9th alphabetically in Average, Count, CountA, Max, Min, Product, StDev.S, StDev.P, Sum, VAR.S, VAR.P.
where are you dropping it to? If it's on the same drive, usually it moves; if it's a different drive, it copies.

If you want to force a move, hold down the SHIFT key while you drag

ahhhh. that must be it...

I'm dragging to another drive.

Thanks for the Shift tip, that's probably better than rt. click dragging (which is what I've been doing.)

Still, I wish there was some setting I could change to alter this behavior.

:-?

You can also just click and drag using the RIGHT mouse button. Once you move the icon and release the button, you should get a little menu asking if you want to copy the file, move the file or create a shortcut to it in the destination folder.
