Hey. Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast. I'm Bill Jelen.
I have a cool new product to talk about today. It's absolutely free.
I have some data here in Excel, and it's just boring data.
I want to kind of jazz this up. I want to get it out to the web. Very easy to do.
I save this file, I'll close the file, and then I'm going to go to a new website called WidGenie, WidGenie.
W-I-D-G-E-N-I-E .com.
I sign up for an account.
It's free to sign up.
Come here and say, hey, I have a new data file.
Basically, it's going to ask me to browse for that data.
This can pull in data from Excel or a CSV file.
We’ll upload that file.
Now, they basically want me to identify for each column whether it's text, number, or a date, and then I want to create a widget based on that data, and I can choose a bar chart, an area chart, or a pie chart, align chart.
Let's go with a pie chart, and I specify the COUNTRY as the X AXIS, PERCENT OF VISITS is the Y AXIS.
They give me a few settings that I can change, not as many as I would like.
When I come here in the LAYOUT tab…actually, you can see there's a preview.
I go to the LAYOUT tab and I say I want to show the name so that way I can see which each COUNTRY is.
I could add a title, change the size, and then basically what I’m going to do is come over here to PUBLISH.
They have different options.
Now, I use BLOGGER for my blog and so I'll choose that one.
Basically, just copy this code, CONTROL+C, switch back to BLOGGER, CONTROL+V to paste, and PUBLISH, and then there it is.
Nice looking chart right in the web page or blog or whatever you need to do.
Great way to take Excel data and very quickly create nice interactive charts right in any blog or anything you need to do.
WidGenie.
It's absolutely free.
Check it out.
Thanks for stopping by.
We'll see you next time for another netcast from MrExcel.
