Hey, welcome back to the MrExcel netcast.
I'm Bill Jelen.
Well, this is episode 699 for Thursday, February 21st, for any of our friends in Canada or Australia.
You wanna check out the lab with Leo tomorrow. I'll be back on the lab on Friday the 22nd.
And today we're going to talk about Excel 2007 and how they changed the Pivot table interface, But I really want to talk about how to get back to the old interface.
The new interface is really cool.
Especially, if you're new to Pivot tables, it's much easier to use, but if you're a Pivot table pro, It would be nice just to get back to the old interface.
First thing choose one cell in the data and come to the Insert tab and choose Pivot table.
Why they put it on insert and set it data. I still haven't figured out, will click Pivot table and we can just click OK, and the new paradigm here is we have the Pivot table field list at the top of the field list our list of fields at the bottom of the field list are the drop zones and in theory.
You're supposed to take a field from the top and drag it to one of the drop zones on the bottom.
While in the old version of Excel, we could just take the field and drag it right to the table here's how to get back right click this icon over here and choose Pivot Table Options on the Display tab the third tab, there's now setting called Classic Pivot table layout, choose that and you see that we go back to the old diagram and now, we can just drag fields region Product and Revenue.
Now, again if you're new to Pivot tables, use this new pivot table field list without going back, But this is just for the Pivot table pro's who were really comfortable dragging and dropping fields to the Pivot Table.
I wanna thank you for stopping by.
We'll see you next time for another netcast from MrExcel.
