Hey welcome back to the MrExcel netcast.
I'm Bill Jelen.
Now today we have a question that was asked by harlie.
If you have a question for the netcast please feel free to call in and leave it either as a voicemail or just drop me an email bill@MrExcel.com and we'll get to you.
Charlie was one of the participants at the power analyst boot camp in Chicago last week.
And I know I usually don't go into VBA here, but he asked a question that really was rather hard to solve even for the 43 people in the boot camp and when we're in VBA most of the time we arrange our window we do "View" "Project Explorer" and then "View" "Properties Window".
So that way along the left-hand pane of the window, we can see both the open items and any properties of user form controls.
Well, Charlie had accidentally undocked the properties window and once he had undocked it, it became impossible to dock again.
There was no way to get it and the "Project Explorer" to live together.
We even tried closing both items and going back and redisplaying "Project Explorer" and then "Properties" window but it remembered the undocked state of the properties window .
There was no way that we could figure out to get this back, you know and unfortunately several people have tried to undock it and now we were thinking oh no you know, Charlie why'd you ask this because now our computer screwed up too.
Well it turns out that finally someone discovered that the way to do this is to take the properties window and place it directly on top of the title bar for the project window.
Now that'll cause things to be reversed of how they normally are and so then you'll take the project window and drop it on top of the properties window.
Completely unintuitive.
But a great way to get the VBA window back to its normal state if you accidentally undock.
So thanks to Charlie for asking that question, and I'm glad we're able to figure it out.
If you've ever undocked your properties window in VBA, easy to get it back, now that we know the secret.
Thanks for stopping by. We'll see you next time for another netcast from MrExcel.
