Hey, welcome back to the MrExcel netcast. I'm Bill Jelen.
Boy today a really simple tip about the fill handle.
I don't know how many times I've shown the fill handle trick.
I show it in all my power excel seminars.
The fill handle is great anytime we need to fill in months of the year, days of the week, dates anything like that and what I usually do is, I type in the word January hit enter which of course moves me to A2 and I hit the up arrow to move back to A1, grab the fill handle and drag and it fills in dates for us.
Now if I don't want to move down and back then I would generally type in January and hit Ctrl enter that keeps me right in cell B1.
I can grab the fill handle and drag but someone watching this and one of the power excel seminar says hey you're wasting a lot of time. Just type January don't even hit enter just grab the fill handle and drag and you can fill in the months without having to enter the data turns out that basically clicking the fill handle and not dragging, is the same as hitting Ctrl enter and so that is a much faster way to be able to fill in the data.
Type the value don't even hit enter grab the fill handle and drag and you're good to go.
Hey thanks for stopping by we'll see you next time for another netcast from Mr Excel.
