Welcome back to the MrExcel podcast.
I'm Bill Jelen.
This is basically a follow-up podcast.
Last Thursday in episode 508, we had a question from Terry and he said hey, "I have a problem when I drag the fill handle, the very annoying fill handle options box pops up, where I can choose to either copy cells or fill the series." He says, "But I can't make that go away, no matter what I do." There's no good way to get rid of it.
I actually showed in the podcast, how to turn it off.
But I knew that there must be an answer and sure enough, we had two people right in with the answer first Bob Meanie called him said, "All you have to do, is select another cell." So, select the next cell and then hit the [ delete ] key.
There you go.
I had been trying to hit the [ escape ] key.
That clearly doesn't work.
The other idea that we had came from Tom Artis.
Now, Tom is from California.
Tom is a friend of mine.
He actually helped put one of our very first products out.
It's called Holly Macro it's 2,500 VBA examples.
This has every snippet of VBA code, you'll ever need.
Now, this originally came from Hans Herbert.
Hans is in Germany.
He's kind of MrExcel of Germany and produced this in German.
Tom has gone through and helped us do the translation.
So, want to kind of promote Tom's product.
They're Holy Macros, 2500 VBA examples and thank Tom for this great idea.
Instead of left clicking the fill handle and dragging Tom says hey, just right click the fill handle drag and then a box pops up or you can choose the exact same things, where you want to copy sales or fill the series and then as soon as you choose that the box automatically goes away.
I have to admit this box is much better.
It's not as pervasive.
It doesn't hang around.
You don't have to select another cell and hit [ delete ].
Really, either of these are a much better option than what we went through last week with having to turn off the box and make sure that it never appears.
Hey! Thanks for stopping by, we'll see you next time for another netcast from MrExcel.
