Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast. I'm Bill Jelen.
One of the new components, in the home edition of Office 2007, is a product called Microsoft One Note.
Now originally conceived as note-taking software for college students, I found One Note to be an excellent product to keep track of everything.
All aspects of my life. Whether it's meetings or just things i have to do, or things i don't want to forget.
There's a book that we have called Unleash the Power of One Note.
And if you go out to amazon, Life on One Note, we also sell it at MrExcel.com This came out for One Note 2003, most of the concepts work just fine.
I think we have a great sale on it at MrExcel right now. So, check it out in our online store.
I've become addicted to One Note Everything that I do, every book that I layout, every to-do list, I keep track of in One Note.
And now after a few years, I have this fantastic collection of notes, of everything that I would ever need to find.
And ofcourse, it's all searchable.
The basic concept in One Note is, you have different notebooks going along the top.
So here, is a notebook for the new VBA 2007 book that I'm working on.
Within each notebook, you have several tabs along the right-hand side.
Each of these are pages and so each page has a title.
That's the title, that appears up here, and so it's very easy to flip through basically, and look at the different tabs that you might have.
A Note page can have text that you type, and it can be typed in the top left or bottom right.
It can contain to-do list, it can contain images, it can contain movies, it can contain audio.
If you have a microphone on your laptop, you can record a meeting and take notes.
If you have a webcam, you can record video right to One Note.
To me though, it's just fantastic to have a spot, where I can keep track of the to-do list for today.
Anything that I don't finish today, I can copy to the to-do list for tomorrow.
Now when One Note came out in Office 2003, it was not part of any bundle at all.
You had to buy it separately, it was a $100 standalone product.
But now in the home edition, you're basically getting One Note along with Excel, PowerPoint and Word for $125.
And I think it's a great application for you to try out.
Once you've gotten used to it, you'll love it.
Check it out in the home and student edition of Office 2007.
Also my book, Unleash The Power of One Note, either on Amazon, or i think we have a pretty good sale at MrExcel.
Hey, thanks for stopping by. Will see you next time for another netcast from MrExcel.
