Hey, welcome back to the MrExcel podcast, I'm Bill Jelen.
For the past couple of weeks I've been out on the road doing a number of my Power Excel seminars.
And the great thing about doing a Power Excel seminar is, anytime you get 150 accountants in the room, someone always knows something new that I haven't seen before.
For the next week or so, I'm going to run through a lot of tips that are in the book, and then show you newer or better ways of doing the particular task.
Now, for example, in the book there's the great trick that if you have a chart, and you need to add new data to the chart.
It's really simple to select the new data, including the headings, click on the border, drag and drop the data to the chart.
Great way to add data to the chart, but how do you take data off of the chart?
Well, I learned a great trick from someone in one of my seminars, look at the blue outline that is surrounding the data set.
If you click one of the handles of the outline, you can actually make the chart area less or more, so there's actually no reason to drag or drop data to the chart.
You can actually select the chart, grab the area that surrounds the data being charted, and using one of the handles in the corner, simply drag to extend or reduce the area being charted.
There you have it, next time you need to add new data to a chart, just click the data and drag the blue handle to include more data.
Hey, thanks for stopping by, we'll see you tomorrow for another tip from MrExcel!
