Moving or renaming linked workbooks

I have several linked workbooks in various folders, some of which have the same names. I want to move them all into the same folder, make the names unique where necessary, and automatically update the links.

The simplest way I can think of is:
  1. In Windows, move [and rename) each workbook into the target folder
  2. for each new moved workbook:
    1. edit the links to reflect the new names and folder
    2. save it back into the new folder.

I need to do this for several sets of applications. Can anyone suggest a faster, easier, procedure?
