I don't know why this is so hard to find an answer for but have been searching online and so thought I would post.

Have developed a form for my associates and want them to be able to move to the cellls I want them to fill data in to by merely hitting the TAB or ENTER key vs. having to move the cursor to each cell requiring them to input data.

Want cursor to move in a specific cell order. You would think you could merely say 1M, 2C, etc., and maybe that's it but can't figure out or find. Feel free to email me or call if you wish to Mark Salessses 202-317-0888 or mark.salesses@eurestservices.us

Much appreciated.

P.S. Would like step by step instructions as it would be my first time and don't want to miss anything.

Have you tried locking all the cells and leaving the ones to be filled out unlocked? When you do that, every time tab is pressed the selection will try to move right first and then down, when enter is pressed the selection will move down first and then right.

Also, protect the sheet - Review | Protect Sheet - and allow users to select unlocked cells...

To unlock the cells: ctrl-click each editable cell to select each of them (or do them one at a time) then right click and Format Cells; on the protection tab clear the check for Locked.

Everyone's missing the point. I want to cursor to move to these cells, in this order:

1M, 2C, 2M, 3C, 4C, 4I, 4K, 5E, 5M, 6E, 6J, 7F, 7H,7J, 7L, 7N, 8F, 8I, 8M, 9D, 9G, 12E, 12H, 13E, 13H, 14E, 14H, 15E, 15H, 16E,16H, 17E, 17H, 18E, 18H, 19E, 19H, 20E, 20H, 21E, 21H, 22E, 22H, 23E, 23H, 24E,24H, 25E, 25H, 26E, 26H, 27E, 27H, 28E, 28H, 29E, 29H, 30E, 30H, 31E, 31H, 11I,29L, 30L, 31L, 32L, 33L

...by merely pressing the TAB or ENTER key. When you open the doc the cursor should be residing in 1M and once completed you hit TAB or ENTER and it moves to 2C, then to 2M and so on and so on.

Anybody know with certainty how to accomplish this? Thanks, Mark

Did you try to follow the advice given? Follow the instructions provided by Vaskov and me and that will happen!

Each time you press TAB it will move to the next cell in the order you listed - provided that you configured those cells as noted...

Cheers,
~ Jim

Jim, yes the fields I don't want touched are locked and the fields in which I want data inserted are not. When you hit the TAB or ENTER key it moves the cursor to the right on the same line. I want the cursor to move to the cells in the specific order I listed. Seems like it has to be coded somehow but don't know how to code for the doc. Thanks, Mark

Okay... So you've got your cells locked/unlocked; now you need to protect the sheet to enforce that locked attribute.

Go to Review on the ribbon/toobar and select Protect Sheet. You'll be given option on what the user will be able to select - check only the box referring to unlocked cells and apply that setting.

That should get it where you want to be.

Cheers,
~ Jim

Jim, did protect the sheet but wasn't given an option to apply my cell order. Only the box referring to the unlocked cells is checked. Don't know where to insert my order of cells I want the cursor to tab to in that order.
