I'm rolling forward financials and have a budget number for the month on worksheet 3 in cell M1, so right now it's 7 for July. Is there a way I can have it change to 8 when I roll forward the financials? I would have the month name August on worksheet 1 cell D5.

Excel Facts

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
Biglb79,
If Sheet1!D5 will always have the month you want to reference, you could use the following formula:
=MONTH(DATEVALUE(Sheet1!D5&" 1, 2017"))

Good luck,
CN.
