MOD 10 calculting

Dear all,

I have that formula on excell to calculate the MOD 10 value for a DIGIT CHECK.

BELOW THE FORMULA.

It works for a number but it is not working for the other.
Please; help me.

example datas : 5290000040000850120 /// THE RIGHT NUMBER IS : 2
it is ok for that number:

the other number :

5290000040000850044 // the right number : 4 after the 44

Using that formula I get 10 for the first and 5 for the second ???

I wouldn't have thought that 10 was a valid result in any circumstances so I don't think that formula will work? Can you explain the intended logic and/or give some more examples?

YES, IT IS THE BEST FORMULA.

For the first number, I have 2 as result, that is right.

But the second is well.

Maybe; it is not the best formula, let's remind that I must use MOD 10 formula to have that value with excel or access or maybe something else provided, I got the best result.

I've looked through this thread and the original thread.

You've still not answered one of the very first questions you were asked - what sort of check digit process are you trying to work with?

What are these numbers you wish to check/authenticate?

Credit card numbers? Account numbers?

If I search for 'check digit mod 10' (perhaps not the best search terms) I get 2 million+ results.

All sorts of methods/algorithims are mentioned.
