Hi all,

Something really random happened on a workbook I'm using in that all the protected tabs suddenly stopped scrolling up and down any sheet with the mouse or mousepad. The unprotected sheets works fine for scrolling in the same workbook.

I've checked and unhide all columns (as per google search)

I've checked advanced display settings that the scroll bars are ticked.

It's like a shortcut key was activated to turn it off but I've no idea how to allow it again because it worked fine, always.

The mouse is playing up a little but not the scroll function.

Everywhere else the scroll works fine.

Any suggestions please?

This using Office 2016

Excel Facts

Why does 9 mean SUM in SUBTOTAL?
It is because Sum is the 9th alphabetically in Average, Count, CountA, Max, Min, Product, StDev.S, StDev.P, Sum, VAR.S, VAR.P.
I had years since I used the mouse -

But if I remember right,
  • Such errors can occur due to change some kind of change in Mouse settings
  • At times CAPS Lock on can do strange with Mouse behaviour

Honestly when such a situation arises, we have to go through a HIT or Miss procedure and eliminate things one by one until reaching the desired solution.

I agree about the hit and miss. I've opened the file in sharepoint and it works fine

Just a quick update as it's taken me this long to find the answer.

Select the whole sheet with CTRL+A then autofit height.

Scroll feature now works again.

Solution
The error is that due to an update of microsoft.
When a protected tab has still 65570 lines you can't scroll down.
The update from microsoft made the 1048576 line standard....
The solution is indead selection all rows and double click between the rows which automaticly makes 1048576 lines and scoll problem is solved. But created problem when you have made lots of different row heights.....
