I am putting together a contract by which only certain locations need to be edited each and every time I create a new contract. An example would be a clients name and address. How do I create a bolded area that leaves this area blank or says something like [insert name here]?

Convert text numbers to real numbers
Select a column containing text numbers. Press Alt+D E F to quickly convert text to numbers. Faster than "Convert to Number"
Howdy. If I understand correctly, you need to create a template (Save As..., and choose Template, which will make it a .dot file). Then go to View > Toolbars > Forms. On the Forms toolbar click on the left symbol, looks like this: ab| Then click in the area you want. After you test and it works, then be sure to lock the elements of the Form.

Try this:

What you can do is put "default text" into the text form fields. You just need to be careful that you don't try to put text if it's a date field. :)

Though you could enter 01/01/01 into a date field to "show" them what goes there.

Another method, which you first mentioned, and could perhaps be more suited (tho I prefer the other kind) is here:
