Is there any way on Microsoft Word to change the colour of the filename in a folder when the document as been viewed.
example: I create a document called TEST.DOC, when I navigate to the folder where this is saved the filename is in black arial font as above. I would like this to change colour when someone as viewed the doc, is it possible.

Regards
Chris

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
I know next to nothing about Nerd (other than I hate using it...), but check out the Word forum at www.theofficeexperts.com

They like Nerd there. ;) And Dreamboat (author of "Dreamboat on Word") did/does a great job on the site.

Where?

Change the color of the filename?

Where, you mean in Explorer? Or using the File/Open dialog box?

In any event (no vb pun intended) there is no way to change the filename font color in Explorer or the dialog boxes to my knowledge.

You could build your own VB procedure to act like a file/open dialog box, but that would be way to much work.

The easiest thing I would suggest to do is to have the file rename itself everytime it's opened. So the name would be FILE0001.doc. Everytime you open the document, it renumbers itself to the next increment. In this case, FILE0002.doc.

A much more "quieter" approach would be to have some code execute on the document's Open event which would append a line to a plain text file as a log indicating when and who the file was opened by.
