Tammara Combs Turner, in conjunction with Microsoft Research is conducting a study for her dissertation in the Information School at the University of Washington. She is conducting a UW research study about social interactions in online communities. She is looking for people who read or post to newsgroups and thought you might be interested in taking part in the study.

The purpose of this study is to understand how people use online discussion groups for technical help and support. Everyone is invited to take this survey – even if you have only visited an online discussion group once. http://www.mointelsurvey2.com/run/7047s226175

For the study we would like you to click on the link below to launch a survey in a browser. The survey will take about 15 minutes to complete and is voluntary. There will be drawings for $2500 worth of cash prizes at the end of the survey. There will be three (3) $500 winners and four (4) $250 winners chosen as a reward for completing the survey. Your odds of winning are approximately 25 to 1.

All data from this study will be kept confidential and any unique identifiers (such as an email address for entry into the sweepstake) will be stripped from the data prior to analysis. Only the University of Washington research team and senior researchers at Microsoft Research will have access to the data.

Thank you for considering participation in our study. Feel free to forward this message to others who may participate in online discussion groups. http://www.mointelsurvey2.com/run/7047s226175
