Microsoft Access stops responding on Pass Thru Query

I'm using A2K and several pass-thru queries into an oracle 8i db. Often times my A2K db stops responding or locks up when using these pass thru queries.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way around this? I thought that the benefit of pass thru was that it offloaded the processing to the server.

I hate that I can't do anything with my machine or access when running these queries.
